- Find a willing princess, king or super-hero
- Find some fab old fabric – we used an old velvet curtain
- Measure your model across the shoulders and times this measurement by 1.5 ie the width of the cape should be 1 ½ times the shoulder width
- Measure them from shoulder to as long as you’d like the cape (draping on the floor, or knee length, but make sure you leave enough for growing room) and add 6cms
- Hem 2cms of the sides and bottom of the cape (sew or use wundaweb)
- Turn over 1cm at top edge and iron flat, then turn over another 3cms and sew to make channel for the ribbon tie
- Thread some ribbon through the channel, then when it’s through sew a few stitches in the middle to stop it being pulled through and you having to endlessly re-thread it. You could use buttons or perhaps velcro for a fastener for smaller princesses
- Go wild with trimmings – we’ve used buttons, furry trim and glittery stuff
- Swish around the place being regal or fighting baddies!
